In the busy health and social care sector sometimes, it’s possible for workers to lose sight of the person behind the condition they are helping to treat, person-centred care aims to remedy this. It gives carers and other staff the knowledge and tools required to focus on each service user/patient as an individual and ensure their needs are met.

It is one of 13 fundamental standards that the CQC requires healthcare providers to meet. Using a person-centred approach, workers take into account an individual needs beyond their condition and allow them to have a say in the way they are cared for.
