Without awareness of the potential differences between individuals, it’s possible to unintentionally discriminate and to let discrimination happen unchallenged. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their workplace, equality and diversity training seeks to make that a reality for all people.

By learning about protected characteristics as outlined in the Equality and Diversity Act 2010, you and your staff gain the knowledge and tools to avoid workplace discrimination and create a more welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. This training teaches you how to avoid unintentional discrimination yourself and how to challenge discrimination that is less innocent.

What does the equality and diversity course cover?

Our equality and diversity training course is typically delivered over a half day, but can be extended if further focus is needed. Topics covered in the course include:

  • The causes of inequality and discrimination
  • The difference between equality and diversity
  • Identifying your own feelings
  • Equality in health - physical disability, health problems and learning difficulties
  • Challenging discrimination
  • The mental health issues encountered through workplace harassment
  • Understanding prejudice, stereotyping and labelling
  • The Equality Act 2010: policies and guidelines
  • Promoting equal opportunities
  • The importance of confidentiality and data protection

On completing the course, all learners will be issued with an awareness certificate.
