As you can imagine, this can make everyday life more difficult to navigate for those with autism. So, it’s imperative that any support or care workers are properly equipped to deal with related challenges.
FMC’s autism awareness training course gives participants a real understanding of autism, teaching them the skills and knowledge necessary to deal with individuals sensitively and appropriately.
As autism is a condition that presents in wildly different ways from person to person, our training methods reflect that and are adaptable to suit the specific needs of the individual and the setting.
This course is delivered over 3 hours. It is made up of group activity work as well as theoretical and personal reflection. Everyone that takes part will receive handouts containing course content. During the course participants will:
Completion of the course will reward participants with a certificate and make them eligible for Level 2 training, which will further increase their understanding of ASD and teach the formulation of behaviour strategies and other techniques useful when caring for people with autism.
